Siemens and Samsung enter into a major wind turbine supply agreement for Canada

Siemens will invest in a new state-of-the-art blade production facility in Ontario
Siemens Energy and Samsung C&T Corporation have signed an agreement for the supply of wind turbines with a total capacity of up to 600 megawatts (MW). The wind turbines to be delivered under this supply agreement will be deployed at selected wind projects in southern Ontario and will provide clean power to approximately 240,000 Canadian homes. Furthermore, Siemens will establish a blade manufacturing site in Canada that is set to create up to 300 jobs in the province.
“With this supply agreement we are strengthening our position in the rapidly growing wind power market in Canada, “said Jens-Peter Saul, CEO of the Siemens Wind Power …

Siemens to strengthen wind business in North America

New rotor blade manufacturing facility in Canada to create up to 300 jobs.
Siemens Energy stays on road to success in North America. The company is to supply wind turbines with a combined capacity of 227 megawatts (MW) for a wind farm located in Oklahoma. The order placed by the utility Oklahoma Gas & Electric encompasses 98 wind turbines and also includes the first delivery of three machines from the new generation of direct drive wind turbines. Siemens also continues to post successes in Canada, too: The company has signed a framework agreement with Samsung C&T Corporation for the supply of wind turbines with a combined capacity of 600 MW, which is sufficient to supply 240,000 …

Wind As An Alternative Power

If you are one of those who usually puts on the light 24 hours a day during winter or one among those persons who use air conditioners the entire summer break, then you must be concerned on how we are going to generate electricity when electric supplies go down in the near future due to people’s complete dependency on electricity. The more dependent we become the bigger problem we might encounter in the future when it comes to electricity. Thus, we must start thinking now on what will be the best alternative power we can have if the main electric power supplies are not enough.
We are not really in danger these times when talking about …

Domestic Wind Power and Alternative Home Energy Solutions

Many people are now trying to get on top of volatile energy prices by generating their own electricity. By doing so, they not only save money but are also safeguarded against power outages and dependence on the traditional grid system supply of electricity. Just how much money can be saved generating your own power? Many people have reported savings of up to 80% on their electricity bills each month. If you want to save more, just construct more wind generators.
Some also switch to non-traditional means of electricity supply to bring about a cleaner environment. Generating power through renewable energy sources like the sun and the wind is cleaner and cannot be depleted unlike generating electricity …

Renewables account for 62 percent of the new electricity generation capacity installed in the EU in 2009

In 2009, and in absolute terms, about 19.9% (608 TWh) of Europe’s total electricity consumption (3042 TWh) came from renewable energy sources. Hydro power contributed with the largest share (11.6%), followed by wind (4.2%), biomass (3.5%), and solar (0.4%).
With regards to the new capacity constructed that same year (27.5 GW), among the renewable sources, 37.1% was wind power, 21% photovoltaics (PV), 2.1% biomass, 1.4% hydro and 0.4% concentrated solar power, whereas the rest were gas fired power stations (24%), coal fired power stations (8.7%), oil (2.1%), waste incineration (1.6%) and nuclear (1.6%) (see figure1).
As not all installed technologies operate continuously 24 hours a day, figure 2 shows the expected yearly energy output (TWh) from the …
